18k Yellow Gold & Platinum Diamond & Ruby Ring - Before Repair
This
18k yellow gold & platinum ring had one of the diamonds knocked
out. The customer decided to have it replaced with a ruby instead.
The four prongs that hold it in place were re-tipped because there
wasn't enough metal holding the diamond in place. All other prongs and
gemstones were checked to ensure there weren't any other weak spots or
damage.

Platinum Diamond Engagement Ring - Before Repair
The
upper right prong on this platinum diamond engagement ring was hit on a
hard surface and broke off. The blow also opened up the other prongs
and knocked out the round diamond. Fortunately, the customer found the
diamond. I replaced the missing prong as well as the remaining three
prongs. The reason for replacing the other three prongs was due to
them cracking when they were bent backwards. In a situation like that
it is better to replace the prongs rather than fixing the cracks. The
new prongs will be stronger than repaired prongs. The picture below shows the ring with the prongs repaired and the diamond re-set.
